狂犬病主要损害中枢神经系统，当病人处于兴奋期时，常表现为狂躁，极度恐惧，大量流涎，乱吐唾液等交感神经兴奋功能亢进表现，护理时应采取如下措施：
（1）将病人安置在单独房间，有条件者将病人送入医院隔离治疗，没有条件的地方可将病人安置在一个单独房间，可使用约束带，防止病人自伤或伤人。房内应光线柔和、安静，避免声、光、风的刺激。
（2）病人的唾液、排泄物及分泌物应用消毒液消毒处理。
（3）接触病人时应戴口罩、手套，加穿一件外衣，离开房间时应脱去口罩、手套、外衣，手套最好使用一次性，随病人生活垃圾一起焚烧处理，外衣、口罩可用消毒液浸泡后再次使用。
（4）病人病愈后或死亡后房间要应用消毒剂喷雾或熏蒸消毒，用过的物品用消毒液浸泡或擦拭。
