煎煮汤药是最为常用的一种中药制剂形式。
  1、煎药用水必须洁净,一般可用清澈的泉水、河水及自来水,井水则须选择水质较好的。
  2、浸泡:煎药时先用适量水在容器内浸药均匀,用水量应以淹没药物或稍高为度。
  3、火候:选择火候主要取决于不同药物的性质和质地,通常发散药及其他芳香性药物都应避免久煎,应当用“武火”迅速煮沸数分钟后改用“文火”略煮即可,以避免久煮而致香气挥散,药性损失。而补益滋腻药物则大多可以较久煎煮。
  4、在一个处方中如果各个药物的性质和质地有显著差别,就应当分别先后次弟煎煮,其中的芳香药物等则须待矿物、贝壳及某些根类药物先煮沸约10分钟后再放入。
  5、包煎:粉末状药物及细小的植物种子,用纱布包裹煎煮,使不致浮散,以便饮服。
  6、若处方中有不宜煎煮的药物,可另行溶化(如芒硝),然后同煎取的其他药液混合。方剂中的液态药物(如竹沥、姜汁等)亦不入煎,与其他的药液混合即得。较贵重的药物(如人参、三七、川贝母)通常多制成散剂与煎得的其他药液同服。胶质药物如鹿角胶、龟板胶等则当另行烊化,混合在其他药汁中服用。
